Support for JBIG Documents Announced Handles Popular Fax Replacement Format

Newton, MA (August 28, 2001)  – Snowbound Software, leaders in imaging technology, today announced the implementation of full reading capabilities for the JBIG image format into its family of imaging products. The JBIG format has been promoted by IBM, ATT and other companies as a fax replacement format due to its greater compression capabilities as well as gray scale support. Compression benefits of over 20% as compared to TIFF Group 4 were one of the reasons for the popularity for this format. The Minolta Document Management products also popularized this format.

JBIG support is optionally integrated into the RasterMaster SDK,  thereby allowing application developers to automatically enhance their applications to display, manipulate, or convert these images.
