Chicago, IL (June 6, 2004) –  Snowbound Software, a premier provider of performance-driven imaging solutions, today announced the release of its powerful java imaging Library and SDK for the Java Platform -  RasterMaster™ 8.0. The company will be shipping these new versions on June 6.

Users will employ the powerful imaging functions within RasterMaster for Java to create web viewers, to develop cross platform Java applications, and to deploy powerful server-based systems that can process millions of images and documents per day.

In the latest version of Snowbound’s flagship product line, notable enhancements and options include support for multiprocessor and multithreaded applications, enhanced color reduction functions, improved annotation features including adding support for the Kodak/Wang format, X9.90 Check 21 format support, and text extraction from MO:DCA AFP documents.

Additional capabilities include JBIG, PCL and HP-GL/2 (HPGL2) reading support, PDF and MO:DCA PTOCA text extraction capability, TIFF tag setting, automatic red eye removal in photos and much more.

Satisfying the needs of many customers who want to add the ability to search their specialized documents, Snowbound added the ability to extract metadata text from PDF and PTOCA documents.  Customers who extract the text can then search or post process that data for a variety of special purposes.
