Watertown, MA (November 30, 2004) — Snowbound Software, a leading provider of performance-driven imaging software solutions, today announced support for the American National Standard (ANS) X9.100-140-Specifications for an Image Replacement Document within its product line.

The legal equivalent of an original written check, an Image Replacement Document (IRD) is a machine-readable substitute document created from the image of both the front and back of the original check. With the recently signed Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act (Check 21), banks are able to accept and process the IRD in place of a physical check.

Available for the company’s entire line of products including its RasterMaster toolkits, SnowBatch conversion tools, and FlexSnap web viewer, the X9.100-140 option provides support for both forward presentment and return presentment IRDs. Snowbound’s software not only supports the original scanned check image—both front and back (greyscale as well as black and white), but also the areas that contain identification, endorsement data, and indemnification statements.

With minimal engineering effort, customers can implement or develop viewers and conversion applications utilizing Snowbound’s software to create, view, annotate and print an IRD then save it to any file formats supported by Snowbound’s software including TIFF, JPEG, or PNG.
