Watertown, MA (October 28, 2004) – Snowbound Software, a leading provider of performance-driven imaging solutions, today announced the release of FlexSnap 8.3, an enhanced version of their robust configurable web image and document viewer.

FlexSnap is a flexible image viewing applet written in Java that enables users to display and manipulate over 40 specialized document and image formats right in a Web browser. FlexSnap is unique not only in that it can read Adobe Acrobat PDF, Group 4, IBM ImagePlus MO:DCA (AFP, IOCA, MMR, PTOCA), JBIG, JBIG2, JPEG and TIFF documents, among others, but customers can also configure the applet’s features and functions with minimal engineering effort.

New features include International language support for menus and dialog boxes that users may modify to localize their viewer. To enhance usability, an improved resizable magnifier, shortcut keys for zooming, “sticky buttons” to indicate active tools, “pan” and “fit-to-window” buttons for ease of viewing, “crop” functionality, and a tool-tip bar that provides a description of each feature as the user moves the cursor over the button have been added to the product.

FlexSnap customers can easily enable or disable any icon or menu item, including the ability to create, view or edit annotations, and activate or deactivate thumbnails. Designed to operate as either a floating applet or embedded within an HTML page, FlexSnap can stand alone or work with a servlet, efficiently handling large documents by downloading one page at a time. For customers concerned with security, images can be streamed directly to FlexSnap without local hard disk caching.
