Snowbound Software Releases RasterMaster 14.0 For Windows, .NET, UNIX, and Macintosh Platforms

Watertown, MA (May 9, 2005) – Snowbound Software, a leading provider of performance-driven imaging solutions, today announced the release of RasterMaster 14.0 for the Windows, UNIX, and Macintosh platforms. RasterMaster is the company’s flagship imaging SDK and library for web and document imaging. Notable enhancements to this latest version include additional file formats and font support, text extraction, and the availability of additional comprehensive samples are provided for programming in C#, Visual Basic, .NET, and ASP .NET.

Expanding on the extensive list of current formats available, reading support has been added for Microsoft Word which allows developers to build applications without the limitation of the end user having to rely on Microsoft Office in order to view the file. Both reading and writing support have also been incorporated for JPEG2000, providing better compression sizes over JPEG reducing the amount of memory required when archiving detailed greyscale and color images.

Functions have also been added to provide the ability to extract text and formatting data from Microsoft Word, PCL and AFP files. This enables developers to build applications that can create searchable PDFs as well as develop content aggregation tools to simplify database population efforts.

Additional version 14.0 enhancements include support for HP-GL/2 plotter files, Windows XP/64, embedded TIFF files in IOCA files, additional font support for MO:DCA, True Type and Type 1, and the availability of additional samples. The samples provide developers a way to effortlessly evaluate and test the functionality of the toolkit as well as speed their programming efforts.

RasterMaster is available for Java, Windows (Active X and DLL), UNIX, .Net, and Macintosh platforms.
