Snowbound Software Expands PDF Capabilities to Include AcroForms Reading and Composite TrueType Font Support for International Characters

Watertown, MA (November 29, 2006) – Snowbound Software, a leading provider of powerful, flexible and reliable imaging technology, recently expanded its PDF document handling capabilities to include support for PDF AcroForms and composite TrueType fonts. These enhancements will go live on December 1, 2006, and will apply to all of Snowbound’s Java™,.Net®, Windows® and Unix® products including its Imaging SDKs, Viewing Applications, and Batch Conversion Program.
AcroForms have been part of the PDF standard since Version 1.2. They allow a PDF document to act as the equivalent of a paper form with fields. Snowbound’s new support for AcroForms provides companies that have used this technology with a solution for easily integrating AcroForm viewing, conversion, manipulation, printing, annotation and / or text extraction into their form approval or reviewing process.
Added support for composite TrueType fonts enhances the display of international characters embedded in PDF documents. Composite fonts use two or more glyphs to represent a single character, such as in adierisis “Ä” or ntilde “Ñ”. Snowbound now recognizes and displays these characters with improved precision, meeting the needs of international companies and organizations.
