Snowbound Software Debuts Virtual Viewer at AIIM On Demand Expo

Watertown, MA (March 4, 2008) – Snowbound Software, a leading provider of powerful, flexible and reliable document viewing technology, today announced the debut of its new Virtual Viewer™ solution at the AIIM On Demand Expo (Booth #3217) taking place in Boston, March 3-6. Virtual Viewer integrates with document repositories enabling businesses to view virtually any document or image format, on any platform, from anywhere.
Virtual Viewer’s flexible architecture enables organizations to roll out a scalable, enterprise-wide viewing technology regardless of the environment. Companies now have the choice to mix and match the client and server components to best fit their needs. Client options include a Java applet, .NET client, or HTML client built with
PoD utilizes the processing power of the server to break up or render pages and immediately deliver only the specific required page(s) to the client for viewing, regardless of the document size. PoD technology provides benefits over traditional streaming technology, including:
- Productivity increases up to 30% by eliminating the need to wait for the document to download prior to viewing. Users get the page(s) they want, when they want them.
- Reduced impact on network bandwidth because pages are not continuously being streamed to the client. This results in higher server and network availability and faster page access for users.
- Immediately downloads only necessary portions of the document(s) to the client by alternatively extracting only the required page or pages from the server.

Virtual Viewer’s mix and match capability lets companies choose from a family of different viewers depending on user rights—without sacrificing security. For example, internal users may need a feature rich Java applet or .NET client for full document processing capabilities. However the company may need to provide external users, such as customers, a zero footprint HTML client so that they can view specific content from the company’s repository but restrict the ability to save, print or manipulate the document.

Snowbound’s Virtual Viewer solution will be available at the end of Q1 2007. Pricing begins at $14,000 depending upon configuration requirements. Volume discounts and OEM pricing are also available.
