VirtualViewer™— Text Search On Documents
VirtualViewer enables users to quickly search text information contained within a variety of formats including Word, Excel, PDF, AFP, and PCL . The results are then highlighted allowing users to efficiently navigate the document to the desired information. The search capabilities can be applied to either individual pages or the entire document open in the viewer.
Searching can be performed in either a pop-up window screen or embedded at the bottom of the viewer. VirtualViewer provides several search options:
- Basic Search - Returns each instance of the search results and highlights only one result at a time. The user can advance one by one to the next result.
- Power Search - Comprehensive search allowing the user to specify page range and case sensitive restrictions. The results are then summarized showing the user the specific pages where the information appears.
- Search APIs - Using Javascript APIs administrators can configure their web application to display the first term highlighted on the document upon retrieval. When the document is opened in VirtualViewer after a repository search, the specified search terms are passed to the viewer allowing it to automatically perform a search upon retrieval. The first term is then highlighted when the document is displayed. This saves time by eliminating the need for the user to perform a second search within the document after it is displayed in the viewer.
