Open Text recently announced it developed a social media application that allowed world leaders attending the G-20 Summit in Toronto collaborate. Open Text worked with the Canadian Digital Management Network and the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade to create the solution, which was accepted well by the event”s attendees.
Delegates enjoyed the application especially because they could easily access it from any of the mobile devices they brought with them. Since most use BlackBerrys, iPads or iPhones for their official business, they could communicate with other delegates at the event at anytime and from any secure internet connection.
“Senior diplomats and other officials representing G-20 countries used the social networking platform to collaborate in the months prior to the June 26 and 27 event so that when the summit got under way, issues and perspectives were shared over a secure network,” Tom Jenkins, executive chairman and chief strategy officer at Open Text, said.
Delegates from 29 different nations, including the European Union and European Commission attended the event, along with 10 leaders of major international organizations.
