SharePoint solutions software developer MetaVis Technologies recently announced the launch of its Cloud Classifier for Microsoft SharePoint 2010, a product aimed at enabling users to tag and classify multiple items directly from the SharePoint user interface.
According to MetaVis, by directly integrating in SharePoint Web Interface, Cloud Classifier appears in the SharePoint toolbar, giving users more control over adding the appropriate metadata to documents.
SharePoint 2010 already provides tagging and classification technology, but is limited to individual items. Cloud Classifier allows users to select multiple documents from SharePoint sites, libraries, lists or search results and classify in bulk.
“By extending our SharePoint classification solutions to the users via the SharePoint 2010 Web Interface, we are able to provide instant access to SharePoint classification technology from anywhere,” said MetaVis Chief Technology Officer Mark Klinchin.
Cloud Classifier also allows users to change content type for multiple selected documents and specify field values, as well as re-map fields to copy metadata from one field to another.
According to a recent report by Global 360, SharePoint adoption could become as high as 98 percent in some industries. However, only 8 percent of SharePoint users have deployed SharePoint 2010.
